The Madagascar Lace plant (Aponogeton madagascariensis) is one of the most striking specimen plants in the aquarium hobby. Its leaves develop a skeletonized, lace-like structure found in almost no other aquatic species, making it an instant centerpiece in a larger planted tank.
Bury roughly half the bulb in the substrate — burying it completely encourages rot. Trim dead leaf tips promptly so decay doesn't spread through the whole leaf, and keep debris and algae from settling in the lace structure.
