Kyoto (Ophiopogon Japonicus)

Kyoto (Ophiopogon japonicus), better known as dwarf mondo grass, is a tufted evergreen with narrow, deep green, grass-like blades that grow in neat clumps.

One important note, because it is widely mis-sold: this is a terrestrial plant, not an aquatic one. Fully submerged it will look convincing for a few weeks and then slowly rot. Its proper home is a terrarium, paludarium, riparium or the dry section of a wabi-kusa — anywhere the crown sits above the waterline and the roots stay damp.

Kept that way it is very easy: part shade, humidity, no CO2 needed, and slow steady growth that holds its shape without trimming.

Live plant, shipped healthy.
