Hardscapes

Hardscape is the skeleton of an aquascape — the stone and wood that decide the layout before a single plant goes in.

Dragon stone, seiryu, pagoda and accent rock alongside manzanita, spider wood and driftwood. Pieces are hand-picked, so weights and shapes vary; that variation is the point.

Rule of thumb: roughly 1–1.5 lbs of stone per gallon for an Iwagumi layout, less if wood is carrying the composition.
